Ghost & Amon Amarth Tickets
Lakeview Amphitheater | Syracuse, New York
Please be advised that Ghost will haunt Lakeview Amphitheater along with special guests, Amon Amarth. On Friday, August 18th 2023, there will be a night of supreme guitar lunacy, so gather all the devout, the joyous, and the terrifying. The rhythms of doom will sound, accompanied by a hellish bass guitar chorus, and everyone will know that the exultant Pope Emeritus IV is alive! Now available for purchase are tickets for the concluding RE-IMPERATOUR by devoted admirers, ghastly ghouls, and devout pilgrims. The new album, titled "Impera," protests self-aggrandizing leaders, arrogant administrations, and the exaltation of mediocrity. Tobias Forge, the main singer of the band, said in an interview, “We now have mechanisms within our own Western empire who are actively trying to, and to some degree have, created this time machine where we’re regressing. We’re flattening the earth. We’re submitting to stupidity, which is fucking unbelievable.”
Ghost is a Linköping, Sweden-based rock band that formed in 2006. They debuted with a three-song demo in 2010, a 7-inch single titled "Elizabeth" in 2011, and Opus Eponymous in 2012. Kerrang! Magazine ranked "Ritual" among the "50 Most Wicked Tracks Ever." After the release of this Grammis-nominated album, which received universal acclaim, the band's popularity skyrocketed. Infestissumam, their second album and first for a big label, was published in 2013 and immediately became a critical and commercial triumph, reaching #1 on the Swedish album charts and garnering them the Grammis Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album. The band's third album, Meliora, was published in 2015 and debuted at #1 in Sweden and #8 in the United States. The album's debut track, "Cirice," was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category in 2016. The band's fourth studio album, Prequelle, was released in 2018. The band released their fifth studio album, titled Impera, in 2022.
Ghosts have been shrouded in mystery for a very long time. In addition to the primarily anonymous Nameless Ghouls that form the majority of the band, Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge has introduced a ghoulish lead character with each successive album, beginning in 2010 with Papa Emeritus I for the debut album Opus Eponymous. After Papas II and III appeared in Infestissumam and Meliora, respectively, there was no numbered Papa in 2018's Prequelle; instead, there was a Cardinal and a newly introduced primordial figure known as Papa Nihil. In March 2020, on stage in Mexico, Cardinal Copia was surrounded by The Clergy and promoted to "Papa Emeritus IV." Forge has continued to use this persona for the album Impera and its associated concert tour, Imperatour. But what happens when The Clergy tire of him and decide a change is in order? Could Ghost's current protagonist defy convention and escape with his head and body intact? Could a Papa IV eventually become Papa V? Or is he destined to die alongside his predecessors? Time alone will tell.
