As the son of the legendary Hank Williams, the honky tonk singer has always sung about his roots. Recording tunes since he was just a teenager, Hank Williams Jr. was a regular on the Billboard's country Top Ten. In 1979, he disrupted the country scene when he released his commercial breakthrough hit "Family Tradition." His music shaped the sound of country music in the 20th century, and this single helped the star carve up his own iconic legacy. Hank Williams Jr. married the swagger of outlaw country with the thunderous beats of country-rock, carving up his own Southern-fried brand. Over the years, the bawdy, rowdy country singer scored several Top Ten Country singles, eight of which peaked at number one. In the eighties, hits included fan favorite "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)," Monday Night Football theme tune "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight," as well as the catchy slow burner "A Country Boy Can Survive."
Fast forward to the new millennium and Hank Williams Jr. is still as big as ever. In 2020, the star was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and, in 2022, he dropped Rich White Honky Blues. This is his fifty-fourth studio album, and features down-and-dirty blues songs like "Call Me Thunderhead," “Fireman Ring the Bell,” and “I Like It When It's Stormy.” Even though Hank Williams Jr. has created his own signature style throughout the years, he continues to pay tribute to his father.
